THR The deal for online streaming of movies and TV shows from the major streaming services was announced Tuesday by HBO and Amazon as the two companies announced a new partnership.
The new pact with HBO, a streaming service that includes HBO GO, Amazon’s Prime Video and HBO Now, will include HBO, HBO, Starz and AMC Networks.
HBO GO will be available in the U.S. and Canada in 2019.
“This is the biggest move in the history of online video and entertainment, and we’re excited to welcome our partners into the fold,” said HBO CEO Michael Lombardo in a statement.
“We’re delighted that they have joined forces to bring online video to more people around the world.”
The deal includes HBO, which will offer a subscription service for $9.99 a month.
Amazon will also offer an ad-supported HBO GO subscription for $14.99.
HBO and Starz will offer subscription service options for $19.99 per month and $39.99 for a year.
HBO Now will be free.
“With this deal, HBO and AMC will work with us to deliver the most exciting, award-winning content on the internet,” said AMC Networks CEO David Nevins in a news release.
“With the ability to access HBO Go on any device, fans will be able to binge-watch and binge-play their favorite shows, including House of Cards, The Leftovers, Game of Thrones and more.”HBO’s streaming service, HBO GO , has become the go-to option for fans of the streaming service as the company’s subscriber base has grown from 10 million in May to 20 million today.
